Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 15, 2026
TrackDoc is designed to be a local-first application. Your drive scans, file catalogs, and library data stay on your machine. This policy explains the limited circumstances where any data leaves your device.
What we collect
On your device (not transmitted)
- Drive scan databases (SQLite files in
~/.trackdoc/profiles/)
- License key (in
~/.trackdoc/license.json)
- Quarantine records (in
~/.trackdoc/quarantine/)
- UI preferences (macOS UserDefaults)
This data never leaves your Mac. We cannot see it, read it, or retrieve it.
Transmitted to Gumroad (our payment processor)
- When you activate a license: we send your license key + product ID to
api.gumroad.com/v2/licenses/verify to confirm the purchase is valid.
- On each app launch: we re-verify the license with Gumroad to catch cancelled subscriptions, refunds, or chargebacks. Monthly licenses re-verify at most every 14 days; Lifetime licenses re-verify at most every 180 days.
- What Gumroad sees: your license key, the product ID, your IP address (standard HTTP). Gumroad's privacy policy at gumroad.com/privacy applies to these interactions.
Update checks
- When you click "Check for Updates" in Settings, TrackDoc requests
trackdoc.app/updater/… to see if a newer version exists. The request contains your current version, macOS architecture, and IP address.
- We do not track, log, or analyze these requests beyond standard Netlify CDN logs.
What we don't do
- No analytics. No telemetry. No crash reporting.
- No account. You don't sign up for anything beyond buying a license on Gumroad.
- No cloud sync. Your drive data is on your Mac, period.
- No ads, ad networks, or third-party tracking pixels.
- No selling, sharing, or licensing your data to anyone. Ever.
Your file data
TrackDoc reads the filesystem metadata and file contents (for hashing) on drives you explicitly select to scan. This data is stored in local SQLite databases under ~/.trackdoc/profiles/. You can delete these at any time — removing the drive profile in the app or deleting the SQLite file directly.
Children's privacy
TrackDoc is a professional audio/video library tool and is not directed to children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page if we materially change how TrackDoc handles data. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
